About Me

La Carboná, Jerez de la Frontera, Spain

Talking all things wine, food and travel is my specialty, especially when it comes to my home country, New Zealand and my residence, Australia.

As a freelance writer my stories about the wines, regions and gourmet destinations of New Zealand and Australia can be found in several online and print publications, including Jetstar inflight magazine, Cellar Press, the James Halliday Wine Companion Magazine, Gourmet Traveller WINE and SevenFifty Daily. I cover new technology and the latest climate and sustainability issues facing the industry for Australia and New Zealand Grapegrower & Winemaker, Wine Industry Advisor and The Drinks Business and you can hear me talk all things Aussie and Kiwi wine as a guest on the highly rated US podcast Wine for Normal People.

I also supply corporate clients with personalised gifts that showcase the best of New Zealand and Australian wines, together with other locally sourced goodies.

After careers as a professional flute player and IT project manager I switched to wine and in 2015 I completed the WSET Diploma in Hong Kong where I was subsequently awarded HKIWSC Scholarship for attaining the highest WSET Diploma score in Asia. After moving back to Melbourne, I was awarded the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show Fellow in 2018. Further studies have included the Wine Scholar Guild Spanish Wine Scholar and the Wine Scholar Guild Rhône Master-Level Certificate where I was awarded Highest Honours in both exams. Judging and tasting panel experience includes Dan Murphy’s, Young Gun of Wine and Melbourne International Wine Challenge, in addition to being one of the AWRI’s 2022 AWAC participants.
